Another failed political decision by the Supreme Court Justices. Are people sitting comfortably in homes in America waiting for immigration reform? Are policies around the world with refugees any different?
President Obama delivers a statement on the Supreme Court's ruling on immigration
"As disappointing as it was to be challenged for taking the kinds of actions that other administrations have taken, the country was looking to the Supreme Court to resolve the important legal questions raised in this case. But today, the Supreme Court was unable to reach a decision. This is part of the consequence of the Republican failure so far to give a fair hearing to Mr. Merrick Garland, my nominee to the Supreme Court. That means that the expanded set of commonsense deferred action policies -- the ones I announced two years ago -- can't go forward at this stage until there’s a ninth justice on the court to break the tie. "
The Obama administration has already shifted over $405 million in funds to address the crisis and is urging Congress to pass a $3.7 billion emergency supplemental bill.

This report provides an in-depth assessment of the inception and implementation of the quota, with a specific focus on the role played by for-profit, private prison corporations. These companies have profited handsomely from the artificial stability provided by the quota while contributing millions of dollars in federal lobbying expenditures and in campaign contributions to ensure their interests are met.
There's a crisis on the U.S.-Mexico border, and Wall Street is betting that it will result in a boom for private prisons.
Positioned to profit: Some of the prisons CCA and Geo Group own are not filled and others are completely idle. That means they are in the unique position to offer their services to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (
Analysts remain very bullish on the for-profit prison industry. Both companies reported better-than-expected earnings and raised their outlook for the rest of the year -- a double high-five that investors love to see.
The Shame of America’s Family Detention Camps
The federal government opened a massive detention center for immigrants where hundreds of women and children are housed in metal trailers surrounded by barbed wire.
